Collection of some projects I’ve got going on.
12/17/2025 – My latest update is that I’ve been working nonstop for a while now, so I won’t be doing any projects in my free time. I will still keep updating the blog because it’s fun writing, but I can’t talk about what I do at work like I did before, IC design is under NDAs in a way that PCB design isn’t.
gm/Id Methodology – Updated October 2024
I want to learn how to properly size transistors to speed up my design time and not waste hours as a SPICE monkey. I’m going through Jespers’ book on Systematic Design to learn the popular gm/Id methodology, and learning SKILL so I can script Cadence to create the lookup table.
Op-Amp Toolbelt – Summer 2023
After being out of practice, I’m trying to make a bunch of op-amps and get a feel for tradeoffs and brush up on my transistor sizing and Cadence skills. The goal is to comfortably design larger systems like data converters this summer without being totally off-guard on basic building blocks.
Skywater 130nm DAC – On Hiatus 2/13/2023
Designing and taping out an R-2R DAC for free using the open source 130nm PDK provided by Skywater Technologies in partnership with Google. The latest MPW batch was a disaster for analog, parasitic modeling and anything dealing with custom layouts didn’t report errors. This project is on hold for now.
180nm CMOS Instrumentation Amplifier – 12/07/2021
Final project for a graduate course in analog CMOS IC design, an instrumentation amplifier for EEG signals.

Joystick – Discontinued
I was originally going to make a drum stick toy using the accelerometer on my STM32F4 dev kit. But since it’s an accelerometer measuring DC rotation, I’ve decided to pivot to making a joystick. Drum sticks might be further down the road idk.

Cat Box – 12/10/2020
A friend of mine has a cat named Chalupa Tanuki III. She is wonderful and old and wise and her tail holds secrets of the world. I made a little box that plays a sound of Chalupa purring as a birthday gift to him.
